Improving mental mealth through running & fitness
The groups are ran by England Athletics qualified Leaders in running fitness who have experience of dealing with mental health issues and we are all happy to run, talk, walk, chat and provide running advice to anyone that needs it.The aim of the Team 2gether runs is not about performance but to enjoy the exercise you are doing and the company of the other members knowing that those in the group understand your situation and are there to support you.
As well as offering individuals time to talk during our coached running sessions, we are able to signpost to organisations locally should further support/counselling/therapy be required.We have a number of organisations locally on hand to aid better mental health & we will work closely & confidentially with you to aid a speedy introduction/referral or even just a friendly introduction to services available.
Is there any better way to spread the message of Team 2gether and encourage other running clubs to consider similar projects than to have our members running at races across the region proudly wearing the Team 2gether shirt.We will have limited places for some of the biggest events in the region as well as other smaller local races, and will offer free places and training for those of our members who would like to participate and fly the flag for Team 2gether
Every new runner needs good running shoes and every runner usually already owns spare pairs that they never use or are lying unwanted in a cupboard. Rather than collecting dust why not donate them and help somebody less fortunate to make use of them? By doing this we hope that nobody feels unable to take part in our groups or take up exercie.If you have any donations, in reasonable condition, then please contact us to arrange collection
We really want to help as many people as we possibly can. As our member numbers grow we will require additional qualified Group Leaders to ensure the quality of all of our groups. We really would like to see existing members gain the relevant qualifications that would enable them to lead group runs, by becoming qualified group leaders. Not only would this help to sustain Team 2gether but be a wonderful example to new members of what is possible
There are no expectations at Team 2gether, after all what makes you happy makes us happy. But should you like to challenge yourself further we offer full access to all of the Parkside Running & Fitness services for free. Parkside run a variety of Group sessions six days a week, you can also have a personal training plan designed for you as well as there being opportunities to receive 1 to 1 coaching and advice.
team2gether isn't an athletics club - it's an organisation that aims to encourage people who may have mental health problems to try running with a friendly bunch of people with the aim of improving mental wellbeing. Whether you can run a mile in 4 or 14 minutes, it doesn't matter - everyone is welcome.
There's absolutely no pressure or obligation to speak about any mental health issues you may have. You don't actually need to mention that you have one. Our running groups are there for your to simply take part in to enjoy the benefits of exercise on mental wellbeing.
All of team2gether's running groups are completely free of charge to join - no catch. We're funded through local grants and sponsorship from local businesses, and run the group on a 100% not-for-profit basis. Any donations however are gratefully received and go directly to Mind Mid & North Essex.
As well as being surrounded by people of similar abilities you will also have a Group Leader who will be acting as sweeper for the group. You cannot be last as that is their job!
We hold a number of Beginners Groups and our Group Leaders are experienced in helping people starting exercise. You will be supported by everyone taking part and given all the encouragement you need.
This is a project to help those with MH issues but is a group open to all, we welcome participation by anyone wanting to come along and join in. The whole project is all about what we can do not what we can't.
Well, off we go. Out first running groups were held this week and it was great to see so many people come along.
